Our Story
We’re Patricia and Shawn, and a lot of our story together has happened in thrift stores.
When we first met, thrifting was one of the things we loved doing together. We’d wander through stores, stop at estate sales, and see what we could find. Finding something wonderful that someone else had passed over—and then showing it to each other—was half the fun.
Eventually, we opened an eBay store. Then came an antique booth in North Georgia. And through all of it, we kept thrifting.
Vintage clothing has always been a particular favorite: old denim, beautiful leather, wool jackets, interesting labels, and pieces that make you stop and take a closer look. We also have a weakness for old wood, brass, pottery, artwork, and things with a little age showing. We enjoy learning about what we find and imagining where it might belong next.
That love of old things eventually led us to a much bigger project: a former 1940s church in Alabama that we’re renovating into our home. These days, our time is divided between bringing the building back to life, decorating with our finds, and making room for the vintage business we want to build.
Back in the Day Vintage brings those interests together. Here you’ll find selected clothing, bags, and collected home pieces—including things we brought home for ourselves and eventually decided to pass along. Our selection will change as we discover new favorites and let others go.
We share our church renovation and everyday life on YouTube at This Flippin’ Church Life. This shop is another part of our story, rooted in something we’ve enjoyed together from the beginning.
