Beautiful vintage hand-carved ironwood owl with deeply cut feather details and dramatic natural grain running through the solid wood body. The simplified upright form and rich organic surface give this seven-inch sculpture a strong mid-century modern character with just enough folk-art warmth.
Material & Details: Solid ironwood; hand-carved feather and facial detailing; freestanding form; naturally varied wood grain Style: Mid-century modern / organic modern wood sculpture
Measurements: approximately 7" tall with a 3.25" base width Weight: approximately 1.3 lb
Condition: Very good vintage pre-owned condition with light wear consistent with age. There is a small chip on the back of one ear, visible primarily from the rear, along with natural checking at the base typical of dense carved hardwood. The owl remains solid and stable. Please review all photos carefully as they are part of the description.
A substantial little wood sculpture for a bookshelf or mantel, with enough grain and carving detail to hold its own without needing to be styled to death.
