Era & History: Hand-wrought decorative aluminum became especially popular in American homes during the mid-20th century, when makers produced lightweight serving pieces with hammered, engraved and floral decoration as an affordable alternative to silver. This unbranded bowl is marked “HAND WROUGHT ALUMINUM” on the underside. Similar floral examples are commonly associated with the 1940s–1950s; because this piece carries no identifiable maker name or date, the era is an informed estimate rather than an exact attribution.
